Former South Africa president Jacob Zuma will face trail over allegedly taking bribe on Monday, May 26, 2021.
Zuma face 16 charges of fraud, graft and racketeering related to a purchase of fighter jets, patrol boats and military gear.
The then vice president to Thabo Mbeki was accused to have accepted bribes which amounted to four million rand from one of the firms, French defense giant Thales.
Meanwhile purchase was made 22 years ago, 1999.
The jets, patrol boats and military gear were purchased from five European arms companies for 30 billion rand – equal to almost $5 billion at the time.
