President Akufo-Addo accepts Kissi Agyeben’s nomination as Special Prosecutor

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has accepted the nomination of Kissi Agyeben as the Special Prosecutor.

His nomination comes six months as required by the Office of the Special Prosecutor Act 2017(Act 959) following the resignation of Martin Amidu on November 6, 2020.

Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame nominated Mr. Agyeben on April 16, 2021, to the president for his considerations.

Akufo-Addo today accepted the nomination of the private legal practitioner as the next Special Prosecutor after his examination.

The president says he is hopeful Parliament will hasten the confirmation process for Mr. Agyeben to assume office.

Mr. Kissi Agyeben holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Ghana and a Masters of Laws from Dalhousie University and Cornell Law School.

He is a Criminal Law lecturer at the Faculty of Law at the University of Ghana.
