Take leadership role of the party – Koku Anyidoho urges NDC Chairman

Former Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Koku Anyidoho has urged Chairman Samuel Ofosu Ampofo to take the leadership role of the party.

According to him, the constitution of the National Democratic Congress should be paramount in any event.

He took to his Twitter handle to call on the Chairman of the party to step aside.

This follows Communications’ Officer, Sammy Gyamfi critics of notable leaders of the party in the House of Parliament.

Mr. Gyamfi, in a Facebook post, argued that the Minority leader, the Chief Whip, and the Speaker of the House betrayed the NDC by approving three of Akufo-Addo’s ministerial nominees whom they had earlier raised red flags against during their vetting.

Meanwhile, on his part, Speaker Alban Bagbin stated that he holds the portfolio to fulfill national interest devoid of his known political colors.

He maintained that the Speaker of the House is mandated to be neutral in legislators’ decision-making process despite the person’s affiliation to any political party in the country.

Further speaking he assured that Ghanaians that albeit he emanates from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), he won’t engage in any party bidding business as Speaker.
