International Women’s Day (IWD)

The International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.

The day, marked on March 8 every year, intends to call for action in as much as accelerating women’s equality is concerned.

IWD occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people.

The Campaign theme for this year’s celebration is “Choose to Challenge”. The International Women’s Day community believes that a “challenged world is an alert world, and from challenge comes change”.
