“Agyewodin, fare thee well” – What Asantehene wrote in Rawlings’ book of condolence

Many the world over have been paying tribute to Ghana’s former President and founder of the National Democratic Congress, Jerry John Rawlings.

From the sitting President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to his Ministers, as well as Ambassadors and High Commissioners, the outpouring of love has been immense.

Today though, it was the turn of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, a week after the death of former President Rawlings.

The late former President and the Asantehene, www.topstories.com.gh gathers, were very close associates. It was thus, both surprising yet touching what the Asantehene wrote in the book of condolence he signed in memory of the late military cum democratic ruler.

The Asantehene wrote, “Agyewodin, fare thee well by President and brother.”

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II later in a session with family of the late Rawlings described the late Rawlings as a brother and a leader who served his country well adding that his sudden death should unite Ghanaians as the country heads to the polls.
