As the 2020 general election beckons, the running mate of the largest opposition party in the country, Prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang has called for optimum transparency in the electoral processes.
According to the NDC’s running mate, the integrity of the election can only be protected through transparent and fair electoral process.
She made the call when she paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Akwatia, Osabarima Kofi Boateng in the Eastern region, on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 as part of her campaign tour of the area.
“We all need the electoral process and the election to be organised in a very transparent manner to ensure that the will of the people is upheld,” she said.
The Vice Presidential candidate of the NDC, however, bemoaned the ever growing culture of vote buying by chiding electorates against the practice.
“When they offer you money for your vote, ask them how much money they can give you to buy infrastructure for your community,” she urged the electorates.
The chief of Akwatia, Osabarima Kofi Boateng on his part, admonished politicians to preach peace and love to foster cohesion amongst all.
“Let you utterances be filled with love and do away with pride and arrogance,” he admonished politicians.
Touching on NDC”s development plans for Akwatia, Prof Opoku-Agyemang noted that the next NDC administration would continue its road network, water supply, education and market infrastructure projects for the benefit of the area.
It would be recalled the president of the republic, Nana Akufo -Addo made a similar call when he filed his nominations forms at the electoral commission on Tuesday October 6,2020.
