New ECOWAS Chairman Nana Addo visits Commission headquarters in Abuja

President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has paid a working visit to the headquarters of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission in Abuja, capital of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Nana Akufo-Addo was elected new head of the 15-nation ECOWAS at the 57th ECOWAS Summit in Niamey, Niger capital.

He takes over from Nigerien President Chief Mahamadou Issoufou as the 35th President to head the ECOWAS since its inception 45 years ago.

The visit to the Commission on September 21, was to enable him, “interact with the management and staff of Community Institutions on our collective agenda on integration and development of our Region”.

“On Monday, 21st September 2020, I paid a working visit to the headquarters of the ECOWAS Commission in Abuja, capital of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The visit is to enable me, as Chair of ECOWAS, to interact with the management and staff of Community Institutions on our collective agenda on integration and development of our Region,” the President shared on Facebook.
